SAMI CBD

What is CBD?

CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol, one of the many cannabinoids, or chemical compounds, found in the cannabis plant that yields hemp and marijuana.

The Cannabis plant

Cannabis is a plant from the Cannabaceae family. This plant is responsible for production of both hemp which produces CBD and marijuana which produces THC. Put into context, a grape can produce grape juice or wine the same way the Cannabis plant can produce Hemp or Marijuana.

Hemp vs Marijuana (CBD vs THC)

Hemp (CBD)
Contains less than .03% THC
Non-psychoactive
Legal throughout U.S.
Used to treat: muscle spasms, anxiety, depression, reduce inflammation, auto immune conditions
marijuana (THC)
Contains 5-35% THC
Psychoactive
Illegal mostly except through medical programs
Used to treat: nerve pain, nausea, lack of appetite, insomnia, glaucoma, ptsd

Why does Cannabis work?

Cannabis contains cannabinoids which are plant chemicals. These cannabinoids stimulate the endocannabinoid system (ECS) found in mammals. The ECS regulates every chemical condition in the body. This means sleep, hunger, cellular reproduction, water and much more are all regulated by the ECS through a process called homeostasis.

Homeostasis is thrown off over time due to injury, poor diet, climate, living conditions, environmental stressors, etc. Cannabis can help your body to restore all of these systems and keep them regulated.
